Happy Chinese New Year 2009 | Kung Hei Fat Choy | Year of the Ox

It’s Chinese New Years Eve tonight – Kung Hei Fat Choy 2009 !!! As Sydney gears up for Australia Day on Monday 26th January, the asian community will be preparing to welcome in the Year of the Ox. There will be plenty of events happening around Sydney, more info can be found at the City of Sydney website.

I will be heading out to a Chinese temple at midnight to join in the excitement of Chinese New Years Eve, still deciding which one to go too…

**update – just got home – I went to the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society Temple at Bonnyrigg. It was so crowded and the smoke from the burning incense was eye watering. Here are some images I captured 🙂

This temple was huge

Martial art demonstrations

Burning incense

Some awesome lion dancing to open the Year of the Ox

There was even midnight fireworks

Happy Chinese New Year – Kung Hei Fat Choy 2009 !!
